Resilience and Rebuilding: A Community First Responder Group
This free five-week group will focus on supporting folks who’ve been involved in some way in the recovery process after Hurricane Helene. For many people who have supported Helene recovery, the call to help their community has been impossible to ignore. In the midst of supporting after Helene’s devastation, many are noticing that they are being impacted by their exposure to the pain of others, sometimes while also holding significant pain of their own losses to the storm.
This group offers an opportunity to slow down in the calming presence of our horse colleagues, experience the emotional regulation that equine connection can offer, and learn skills to deepen and expand our sense of resilience to continue the rebuilding work. Group members will have the opportunity to:
Learn about the impact of chronic stress and exposure to trauma on the brain and body
Learn and practice skills to mitigate those impacts
Be in community with those with shared experiences
Develop relationships with our horse colleagues through observation, physical connection and learning to play together.
Learn what our horse partners can teach us about ourselves
Program Dates: October 16, October 23, October 30, November 6, November 20
All dates are 10am - 1pm
Space is limited and sign up is required. We also ask that participants are able to attend all dates of the program.
