Title: Development Manager

Reports to: Assistant Executive Director

Primary responsibilities: The Development Manager leads fundraising, events, and community outreach efforts for Heart of Horse Sense. This role builds and nurtures relationships with staff, independent contractors, donors, community partners, and volunteers to strengthen long-term support. In collaboration with the marketing team, this position manages strategic communications and engagement/fundraising activities that elevate awareness of our mission and impact. Through these efforts, the Development Manager ensures Heart of Horse Sense has the resources to grow and sustain our programs.

Availability: This is a full-time salaried position. This is a hybrid position with on-site presence 2-3 days a week 9am - 5pm, evenings and weekends as needed. Hybrid work may make up to 40-50% of this work.

Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 with benefits after 90 days, including PTO and health insurance stipend.

Education and Experience Preferred:

• Fundraising experience of 1 to 3 years (campaign involvement, donor development, and nonprofit experience)

• Supervisory experience, for example, of a committee or of communications, and/or as a member of a leadership team

• Work equivalent (2 or more years of relevant work experience) and/or Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (such as community relations, public affairs, finance, business admin)

• Experience in the cultivation and sustaining of relationships (example: with individual donors, with community partners, and with the public)

• Experience with Gmail, Google Suite, and fundraising software, preferably in Bloomerang
